Following a clear round over a tricky course in very windy conditions, Ladybrook Ammeretti and Sammy Jo Grantham booked their place in the Mountain and Moorland WHP Final at Horse of the Year Show. The 13.2 bay gelding by Merrie Marmalade has been steadily brought on in worker classes and Sammy Jo was over the moon that she had finally secured that coveted place to jump at HOYS. This gives us a tally of New Forest Ponies through to Birmingham.
The In hand classes were judged by Ms Gill Wright who had made the long trip up from the New Forest. The First class was the stallions and after a slight reshuffle the ever consistent Sabina's Gold Sovereign took first place ahead of Lovelyhill Uplift and Furzey Charaide in 3rd. Gold Sovereign had a very successful day and won the Shearwater WHP exceeding 13.2 class, the New Forest Ridden and the New Forest Championship.
The 2 and 3 year old class only had two entries forward, both up to height geldings and interestingly forest bred. The winner was Allandale Misty a grey by moortown nobby out of Allandale Grey Mist who stood reserve to Sabina's Gold Sovereign.
In the 4 year old and over class the winner as Tacaway Tipple, another forest bred pony by Monkshorn Trooper bred by Nicky Kemp and owned by MS S J Grantham. From the ring side this mare really caught the writers eye and was a good example of type.
