The New Forest and Connemara in hand classes at this years Devon County Show unfortunately only saw 2 New Forest ponies entered Mr & Mrs Pidgley’s black Stallion Longcopse Elton (pictured below) and one of his progeny Vicarshill Jack The Lad. Elton was second in a strong class of connemaras and stood reserve Champion as well as collecting the New Forest Best of Breed rosette. The classes were due to be judged by Mr David Sykes but he was unable to make the show and five minutes before the classes went in, Mrs Wendy Burt filled in.

In the afternoon the New Forest and Connemara ridden class again had low New Forest entries but Willoway Lord of the Rings owned by Sally Carpenter was second and Longcopse Elton 5th.

Perhaps if Devon county would split the New Forest and Connemara classes they would see more support from the New Forest competitors.
