THREE COUNTIES SHOW REPORT - Friday 13 June 2008

It was a good day for foresters at the Three Counties Show held at Malvern with 2 New Forest Ponies qualifying for HOYS. The consistent bay gelding Willoway Lord of the Rings ridden by Charlotte Harlow, won a huge Connemara and New Forest section of the HOYS ridden class with 42 entries forward. This will make it a tally of three Willoway ponies through to the ridden final, quite an achievement for the stud.

In the HOYS WHP 13.2 and under section Rushmoor Sunrise jumped clear in an exceptionally tricky course including off set jumps, bullfinches and tunnels. This 11 year chestnut gelding was forest bred by messrs. Stride by Faircross Sunrise out of Rushmoor Rose Bay and has been to HOYS on several occasions. He is owned by Ms A Bebbington from Derbyshire and ridden by her daughter Samantha Bebbington.

Although catalogue entries were strong the numbers forward on the day in the New Forest pony classes appeared down. Mr David Sykes was the judge for the morning and chose Sabina's Gold Nugget ridden by Laura Wilson as his winner in the ridden class closely followed by Sabina's Gold Sovereign in second spot and Rushmoor Remember Me II in third.

In the 4 yo old and over class Mr Sykes chose a Dun gelding Daniels Karamel by Knightsway Buster owned by Miss Baskett as his winner ahead of Mr & Mrs Bailey's Applewitch Roan Fantasia.

Willoway Madeline  a bay 3 year old filly by Woodrow Prince Harry owned by Mr Armitage collected first place in the 2 and 3 year old class.

A charming chocolate Dun filly, Twilight Tansy by Applewitch Pure Magic won the yearling class for her delighted owner Mr Day on her first outing. Tansy went out to stand reserve champion to Sabina's Gold Sovereign in the New Forest Pony Championship.
